Chitral teacher suspended for beating students

PESHAWAR:
A schoolteacher, who brutally beat students at a stae-run  elementary school in Chitral, has been suspended after a cell phone video which caught him in the act went viral.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) also formed a two-member committee to conduct an inquiry into the use of corporal punishment by the teacher.

The 96-second video shot from a cell-phone, which went viral on social media before being picked up by television channels on Tuesday, shows an unidentified male teacher beating students at a government school.


Taking notice of the incident, the E&SE director issued a notification in which the District Education Officer (male) for Chitral has been directed to immediately suspend the teacher and submit a report.

Further, the inquiry committee comprising DEO Chitral Hanifullah and principal of GCMHS Chitral Kamalud Din will identify the head of the institution where the incident took place and fix responsibility.
