Increasing Productivity: ‘Farmers need to improve practices’
There is a need to improve crop management to achieve better yields said the chairman

Crop management technologies can only be transferred to farmers with active involvement of the public and private sector along with the farmers, said Pakistan Agricultural Research Council [PARC] Chairman Dr Nadeem Amjad. Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day Agricultural Innovation Programme [AIP] Agronomy Annual Meeting-2016, he said that Pakistani farmers are facing various challenges like shortage of irrigation water, soil degradation, changing prices of inputs, shortage of skilled farm labour, lack of suitable agricultural machinery, imbalance use of fertiliser and burning of crop residues. “These issues are not only affecting farm productivity but are also affecting our environment,” Amjad added. There is a need to improve crop management to achieve better yields said the chairman.
