A member of a banned militant organisation and a police constable were killed during an encounter in Swabi on Tuesday.
Swabi DPO Javed Iqbal said the police raided a house in Daud Kalay village to arrest a member of a banned outfit. He added when the police team reached the spot, the militants opened fire on them.
As a result, police constable Muhammad Javed died and sub-inspector Muhammad Tariq and FC personnel Muhammad Sajjad were injured.
The DPO added the police retaliated and killed wanted militant Anwar Saeed, while two of his companions were arrested. He said the accused have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. He said Saeed carried a head money of Rs2 million and was wanted in a number of terrorist activities.
