‘Law and order in Sukkur better than other districts’

The law and order situation in Sukkur district is much better than that in other districts of upper Sindh, claimed Sukkur DIG Captain (retd) Feroze Shah. He said this while speaking at a luncheon held in his honour on Tuesday afternoon.
"The people of Sukkur are mostly law-abiding and educated and I have been told that the residents, including the traders, are very cooperative with the police," he said. Members of the trading community told the DIG about the general problems faced by residents. The DIG directed the Sukkur SSP to ensure that weddings end by midnight, the menace of one-wheeling is curbed and minors are stopped from driving motorcycles and rickshaws. He also ordered action against silencer-less motorcycle and rickshaw drivers.

During the last two months, more than 35,000 vehicles in Sukkur region had been checked by the police and, resultantly, 5,000 offenders were arrested. Apart from this, 1,237 proclaimed offenders and 1,400 absconders were arrested. "Action was taken against more than 150 rickshaw drivers during this period and 25 to 30 stolen motorcycles have been recovered, which will be handed over to the owners shortly," said Captain Shah.
"In the past, many people were kidnapped from Sukkur but due to the corrective measures taken by the police, cases of kidnapping have been reduced to zero," he claimed.
