TIMERGARA:

A simmering dispute between two doctors over the post of district health officer (DHO) has inconvenienced a large number of people.

Officials privy to the development told The Express Tribune, the government appointed Dr Shaukat Ali as the DHO of Lower Dir a few months back. However, some officials from Jamaat-e-Islami voiced their reservations. As a result, Ali was removed and Dr Anwarzada was appointed as a temporary DHO. Anwarzada was subsequently offered him a permanent position.

However, Ali refused to accept the appointment of Anwarzada. After some days, Ali became the DHO once again and took charge of the post. Nevertheless, the government once again removed Ali and reappointed Anwarzada as DHO.

This appointment was challenged by Ali at the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The high court issued a stay order and reinstated Ali as DHO.
