KARACHI: A stationary godown in the city's commercial hub was set ablaze on Monday. However, no loss of life was reported.

A fire broke out at a stationary godown on the second floor of a multi-storey commercial building, Al Kareem Building, in Boulton Market within the limits of the Kharadar police station.

A fire department spokesperson said that they received information about a fire at around 12:05pm. Initially two fire tenders were sent to the site but later an additional five were dispatched to battle the blaze.

The spokesperson said that the firefighters faced difficulties in extinguishing the fire due to the narrow lanes and congested area. However, the fire fighters were able to douse the flames and no loss of life was reported as the godown was closed at the time.

The spokesperson said the fire broke out due to short-circuit.

The local police also reached the site and helped in the extinguishing work. The police confirmed that the fire was not set intentionally and was cause by an accident.
