Jacqueline Fernandez may have gotten a lot of praise for her dance moves in songs such as Lat Lag Gayee and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, but the actor says there was a time when she was shouted at for not being good enough. However, she worked hard to improve herself as a dancer and eventually got better with time.
“I was screamed at, shouted at and made fun of when I did my first movie, by certain choreographers I can’t name. It was a very important lesson because it basically kind of woke me up,” The Indian Express quoted the Dishoom star as saying.
Following this, the 30-year-old started training hard so as to not hold back a film. “It was then that I started training in dance because I didn’t want to disappoint and hold a movie back anyway. I worked on it and went on to love it. I wish I could honestly invest more time in training because it is very therapeutic,” Jacqueline added.
She will now be seen as a judge on season nine of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. According to the Kick actor, when the show was offered to her, she took her time to think as she found herself to be an unconventional choice to be a judge.
“I didn’t know if I was prepared enough to take on something like that. It was also very daunting knowing that I am going to be watched by millions of viewers, I didn’t know how to deal with that.”
The celebrity contestants on season nine include Surveen Chawla, Karishma Tanna and Gaurav Gera, among others. “It does put pressure on me. I am realising now how popular they are. They are huge TV personalities who are so talented in their own right and I am trying to learn about them.” She added, “For us celebrities, when we go for promotions on shows, we sit there, give our opinions and leave. We are never there to score or judge. But now there is this responsibility. You also want to give the best critique so that the contestants do better.”
