ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has appointed its senior leader Naveed Qamar as the parliamentary leader in an apparent bid to use the parliamentary forum proactively. The position fell vacant with the death of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, who was also the president of the PPP-Parliamentarians.

The largest opposition party already has the coveted posts of opposition leaders in both the upper and lower houses of parliament.

On Saturday, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari appointed Qamar as the party’s parliamentary leader.

With the new appointment, the PPP will enjoy more time in speeches on the floor of the house. The parliamentary leaders are given more time comparatively.
