Mainpuri case: Suspects arrested for selling gutka

The police booked on Friday the son, Arsalan and brother, Habibullah of a Hyderabad Municipal Corporation union committee-83 chairperson Abdul Hafeez on charges of selling mainpuri and gutka. Arsalan, Habibullah, Faiz Muhammad and Muhammad Sabir were among four suspects held during a police raid led by the HMC food in-charge at three separate places. The police booked three FIRs on complaint of HMC food official Tauheed Ahmed under sections 269 and 270 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The suspects were, however, released on bail on Saturday. The police also recovered machinery, finished products and raw materials worth millions of rupees. The municipal corporation cannot allow the manufacture and sale of substances which are harmful for human health, said HMC administrator Barkat Memon.
