The 30-year-old has so far picked up seven wickets at an average of a shade under 24 in the first two Tests, and revealed that he is happy with his consistency. “I’m still waiting for that performance where I can contribute a lot to a win,” said Broad. “I’ve consistently picked up two or three wickets each, so I am relatively happy with the consistency I’ve put in for the team. I’ve done that holding role and hopefully at Edgbaston I’ll be able to pick up a big pile.”

The Nottingham-born fast-bowler also revealed that he had difficulties in operating with new Dukes ball, which according to him is not providing as much assist as the ones did in the summer before. “I’m probably not bowling as well as I would hope to do,” he added. “I’ve found it [Dukes ball] a bit different this summer.

"The new balls haven’t swung particularly for the first seven or eight overs. They’re a bit different to the ones last year, so I’ve probably struggled to get the most out of the new ball and I’ve not taken that many wickets.”
