Locals urge govt to take action against Wapda officials
PABBI:
Residents held a protest outside Pabbi Press Club to raise their voice against 20 hours of load-shedding in the region.
Speaking to the journalists, locals said Wapda officials have failed to address their grievances. “We are being overcharged for electricity,” he said. “Load-shedding has caused countless difficulties for us.”
The protesters urged the government and other relevant authorities to take action against the Wapda officials. “Action must particularly be taken against SDO Charagh Khan who is not performing his duties and is also overcharging consumers,” he added.
Amid threats
The protesters said they will hold a massive demonstration if actions is not taken within five days. Some families who are visiting from abroad have also threatened to stop sending remittances to Pakistan if prompt action is not taken.
They requested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and PTI Chairperson Imran Khan to take notice of the situation.
Residents added they have repeatedly tried to meet the local MPA to discuss the situation. “However, he is least interested in dealing with the matter,” he added.
They added SDO Charagh Khan and Wapda officials have taken more than Rs0.2 million from consumers but electricity has not been provided. Locals added NAB should also investigates the sources of properties owned by the SDO.
