Uzair Baloch Case: ATC to hear cases on jail premises

KARACHI:

An anti-terrorism court was informed on Wednesday about the trial of suspected gang leader Uzair Baloch inside the jail for security concerns.

The ATC-V received a letter from the home department stating that Baloch was a high-profile suspect nominated in several cases pertaining to murder, attempted murder, extortion, kidnapping and others and it was unsafe to bring him to court for each hearing. The letter asked the ATC-V to conduct the trial for five cases pending with it against the suspected gangster and his aides during special visits to the jail premises. Baloch faces more than 40 cases registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act. His arrest was shown in January after the Rangers claimed to arrest him in an intelligence-based raid in Chakiwara.
