Scope of special powers: PTI stands behind Rangers

KARACHI: The PTI has submitted a resolution in the assembly demanding an immediate extension in the policing powers of the Rangers. The resolution, submitted on Wednesday, reads that the policing powers of the paramilitary force should cover the entire province and not be restricted to just Karachi.

Explaining the reason behind the resolution, PTI MPA Khurram Sher Zaman cited the example of the increasing crime and terrorism in the city, saying “the recent targeted killing of security personnel could have been avoided if the Rangers were in power.” Zaman also said that they have demanded that the paramilitary force’s special powers spread throughout Sindh so if a criminal seeks shelter outside of Karachi, he should not be spared.
