Sacked employees: PHC issues notices to education officers
The government alleged they were inducted on political grounds
PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court has issued notices to the education director and Nowshera district education officer for not restoring 150 employees of the department.
The employees were recruited during the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government but were sacked in 1997 when Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government came to power.
The bench, comprising Justice Nisar Hussain and Justice Musarrat Hilali, heard writ petitions filed by Samina Qazi and others through their counsel Khalid Rahman on Wednesday.
The petitioners’ counsel told the court that the employees were recruited in different cadres in the education department.
He said they were sacked when the then PML-N government came into power in 1997. The government alleged they were inducted on political grounds. Rahman said an act was introduced years later whereby all sacked employees were reinstated but 150 were ignored.
