SHABQADAR:
Construction work on the main shabqadar bypass road has been halted after complaints were received about the use of substandard material.

Shabqadar tehsil naib nazim Ghaffarullah Sheikh and Insaf Students Federation Charsadda President Kamran Haleemzai, along with journalists, visited the site on Tuesday and inspected raw materials that were being used for the construction of the road.

During inspection, it was revealed that the contractors were using substandard material for the construction of the road. The naib nazim ordered the work be halted. Later, while talking to the media, Sheikh said the bypass was five-kilometre-long and 30-foot-wide, a bridge was also planned for it.

The route would connect Peshawar with Mohmand, with a road bypassing Shabqadar market, he added. The route would ease the flow of traffic on the main market road. The construction had to be completed in 18 months and it was among the mega projects of Shabqadar.

However, the use of substandard material in construction would delay completion of the project. Sheikh informed Communication and Works Executive Engineer Farman Khan about the issue, who said the department will take action against the contractors. There were other projects in Shabqadar in which corruption has been witnessed, he added.

About the issue, the ISP president said they will never allow any department to defame their party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
