NEW DELHI: According to actor Jacqueline Fernandez, donning the judge’s hat for the popular Indian dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Ja is a big responsibility.

The Sri Lankan beauty queen will soon be joining film-maker Karan Johar and ace choreographer Ganesh Hedge on the shows judges’ panel for its coming season.

Speaking about the show, Jacqueline said, “It is a very new and different experience but I have amazing co-judges with me and we are having a lot of fun. Judging these contestants who are celebrities is something big.”

The show – which is slated to go on air on July 30 – will feature actors Sidhanth Gupta, Shantanu Maheswari, Surveen Chawla, Karishma Tanna, Helly Shah and Shakti Arora among others as contestants.

Jacqueline was in the Indian capital for a media conference to promote her forthcoming film Dishoom. The Kick actor was joined at the event by her co-stars from the film, Varun Dhawan and John Abraham.

About her role in Dishoom, Jacqueline stated, “It’s actually a tomboy character. It was a lot of fun because I actually got to do what the boys were doing – all the action and all the running around. I was really excited to play the character of Ishita.”

Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Dishoom is slated to release on Friday. The film also offers a dance number by Bollywood beauty Parineeti Chopra which, according to Jacqueline, has added a touch of glamour to the film.

When asked about her thoughts on Parineeti’s cameo in the song Jaaneman Aah, Jacqueline said, “I loved the song! I thought she was looking amazing. She was the most amazing choice for the song. She dances so well and she looks so good. She added a touch of glamour to the film and I am glad that she was a part of it.”

Jacqueline also claimed that things have changed for female actors in the world of showbiz as writers are now coming up with more interesting scripts for them. “There is definitely a change in Bollywood for female actors. Writers are coming up with more interesting scripts for them now,” she said. “Besides, I also feel we have taken a stand. The writers have put their foot down and are working towards more female-centric roles. It’s a great thing.”

Dishoom follows the storyline of two policemen who are sent on a 36-hour manhunt to the Middle East when India’s top cricketer goes missing. It has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros International Media Ltd.
