LAHORE:

The Technical Education and Vocational Authority (TEVTA), in collaboration with the Rice Exporters’ Association of Pakistan (REAP), will offer a three-month demand-driven course for technicians, millers and machine operators at rice processing mills.

In this regard, an MoU has been signed between TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and REAP chairman Muhammad Shafique. As many as 1,500 youths will be trained over the year.

Sheikh said the TEVTA and the REAP had joined hands to create job opportunities for the skilled workforce. The courses will be offered in TEVTA-designated institutes. A two-month, on-job training will be conducted at the rice mills nominated by the REAP. The trainees will be provided stipends during the training.

“We will arrange for the candidates’ placement at rice mills owned by the REAP members. Pass-outs will be paid Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 a month after the completion of course,” Muhammad Shafique said.
