Anti-Dengue Day: Citizens urged to keep surroundings clean
City government holds seminars, walks to educate citizens about dengue fever

The district government observed an Anti-Dengue Day on Saturday to raise awareness among citizens about the dengue virus.
Seminars and walks were arranged in all Lahore towns. Dengue surveillance teams inspected various places, including graveyards, junkyards and tyre shops.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Usman led an anti-dengue walk from Town Hall to Istanbul Chowk.
MPA Majid Zahoor, the city assistant commissioner, town administration officials, representatives of Health and Civil Defence Departments and members of the civil society participated in the walk organised by the Data Ganj Buksh Town administration.
Usman said Anti-Dengue Day had been observed to educate people about precautionary measures against dengue fever.
He appealed citizens to keep environment clean and remove rainwater from roofs and pits in their area. He urged the public to cooperate with dengue surveillance teams.
The DCO also distributed pamphlets among citizens at Istanbul Chowk.
The Gulberg Town administration had organised a walk from Liberty Roundabout to Hussain Chowk. Model Town Assistant Commissioner Rao Imtiaz Ahmed led the walk attended by officials from the Lahore Waste Management Company, the Health Department, the Social Welfare Department, the Education Department, the Water and Sanitation Agency and the Parks and Horticulture Authority.
Agriculture Special Secretary Hassan Sardar led a walk from the Civil Secretariat to The Mall. Agriculture Extension Directors General Dr Anjum Ali and Raees Ahmed led a walk at Agriculture House, Davis Road.
Sardar distributed pamphlets on The Mall carrying messages regarding how to control dengue virus spread.
He urged people to actively participate in anti-dengue activities and play their role in eradicating the virus.
He asked citizens to keep their houses clean to avert breeding of dengue mosquitoes. He said all government departments were alert and regularly monitoring the situation to deal with any emergency.
