QUETTA: A bomb explosion at the provincial capital’s Sariab Road left at least one person dead and wounded six on Friday, police said.

A remote control device was used to detonate the explosive. Two or two-and-a-half kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the device.

“Unknown persons planted the device on the roadside while it was premature to confirm who the target was,” SSP (operations) Syed Nadeem Hussain said while talking to the media.

According to police sources, a tribal elder from Sibi was passing through the area at the time of the explosion. Police cordoned off the entire area to preserve evidence on the spot.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the attack and asked the authorities concerned to submit a report on the blast. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
