Growth Strategy 2018: TEVTA trains 62,000 youths

The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), under the Punjab Skills Growth Strategy 2018, has trained more than 62,000 unemployed youth in demand-driven short courses, TEVTA Chairperson Qaiser Sheikh said on Friday.

He attended a meeting at TEVTA Secretariat to review progress on such courses.

“The youth have been given free training in 50 industry-vetted courses,” Sheikh said. He said eight batches of students were given training in three-month courses and four batches in six-month courses.


The training was imparted in consultation with the industries concerned. As many as 37 courses have been arranged for men, nine for women and four for both men and women at more than 300 TEVTA institutes.

Sheikh said the students were provided books and reimbursed travelling expenditures. The TEVTA had also paid registration fee of trainees.
