A Rs20.508 billion budget was approved for the government of Faisalabad by DCO Salman Ghani on Friday.

Giving details of the budget, DCO Salman Ghani said the income of the city district government was projected at Rs1,643.8 million.

“Rs727 million have been allocated for ongoing development schemes and Rs129 million has been earmarked for new development schemes,” he said.

“Rs792.272 million will be spent under the Punjab City Governance Improvement Programme,” he added.

The DCO said that improvement of health facilities and rehabilitation of health institutions in the district was a top priority.

He said the allocation for purchase of medicines had been raised. “This year, Rs441.37 million has been allocated for this purpose,” he said.

The DCO said that the allocation for electricity bills of tehsil headquarters hospitals and rural Health centres had also been raised. The DCO said hospitals would be provided new air conditioners and other basic facilities.


The DCO said Rs34.45 million had been allocated for civil defence. He said new equipment would be purchased for the civil defence system as well.

Dengue day

The Dengue Day will be marked in Faisalabad on Saturday (today).

A spokesman of the city district government said the administration had chalked out a series of programmes for the day. He said an awareness seminar would be held at Lyallpur Complex by the Health Department. He said DCO Salman Ghani would preside over it. He said after the seminar, an awareness walk would be organised from Lyallpur Complex to GTS Chowk.

The spokesman said banners inscribed with awareness messages had been displayed near major roads, parks, bus stands and the railway station.

He said education institutions would be opened especially for dengue day so that awareness seminars could be held.

He said programmes would also be arranged by the Social Welfare Department, the Cooperatives Department, the WASA, the FDA, the Environment Protection Department, the Faisalabad Arts Council, the Auqaf Department and the Sports Department.
