The house of an Awami National Party leader was robbed in the Cantt police’s jurisdiction on Thursday.
A police official told The Express Tribune unidentified bandits barged into the house of Shahi Khan Shirani and stole valuables worth millions.
“There were six dacoits riding three motorbikes.” The official further said four of them were wearing police uniforms.
He said the bandits entered the house and held the women and children hostage at gunpoint. “They looted Rs40,000, seven tolas of jewellery, a mobile phone, a camera, and a licensed Kalashnikov.” A case has been registered at the Cantt police station.
Meanwhile, ANP DI Khan President Advocate Shahab Ali Shah condemned the incident and criticised the police for failing to apprehend the bandits.
While speaking to journalists, he said, “Security is on high alert and check posts have been established across the district. Even the administration has banned pillion riding and the occurrence of such an incident is unfortunate.”
Shah questioned how bandits wearing police uniform looted a house located in a high security area. He demanded that authorities investigate the matter and arrest those involved.
