A ceremony was held on Wednesday to distribute awards among position holders at the Alhamra Hall.
School Education Minister Rana Mashhood was the chief guest at the ceremony. BISE Chairman Dr Muhammad Nasrullah Virk was also present.
Matric results: Girls take the lead in most regions
According to the BISE, a total of 214,711 candidates appeared in the examination. Out of these, 153,478 candidates were declared successful. The success ratio remained 71.48 per cent. In the Science Group, 102,780 candidates were declared successful out of 131,161 - a pass percentage of 78.36 per cent. From the Humanities Group, 50,698 candidates out of a total of 83,550 were declared successful with a success rate of 60.68 per cent. Addressing the ceremony, Rana Mashhood congratulated the position holders and said that the government had been working for improvement in the education sector.
“The provincial government has increased funding for the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) to facilitate deserving students. The priority given to the education sector by the Punjab government is evident by the budget allocation for education in the past few years. The Punjab government has been consistently raising the budget for reform of education sector,” he said.
Later, Mashhood distributed medals, cash awards and merit certificates among the position holders.

Talking to the media after the ceremony, the position holders credited their teachers and parents’ efforts for their success. They said that they had worked hard for the examination and planned to do the same in future. Rana Omer Farman, the overall first position holder, said that he wanted to be doctor and serve the country.
The three top positions were secured by students from the Divisional Public School (DPS), Model Town Lahore. Farman stood first with 1,087 out of 1,100 marks and Muhammad Shayan Waheed second with 1,086 marks.
With 1,085 marks each, the third position was shared by Syed Momin Ali and Hussnain Mushtaq.
