Govt trying to facilitate students to the best of its ability, says minister

MULTAN: Saifur Rehman of Muslim Public High School, Mumtazabad, Multan, stood first with 1085 marks out of 1100. Maryam Shaukat and Muhammad Huzaifa, both of Lodhran, shared the second position with 1084 marks. Muhammad Shahzad of Lothar village stood third with 1080 marks in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) 2016 examination. The top three positions in the General Group went to students from religious seminaries.

The Multan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education announced the results on Wednesday. According to statistics shared by the BISE, 100,162 candidates had appeared in the exams, of which 73,350 passed. The pass percentage was 73.23 per cent.

In the Science Group, 76,782 regular candidates appeared, of which 59,520 passed the exam (77.51 pass percentage). In Humanities Group, 23,380 candidates appeared in the exam of which 13,830 candidates passed (69.85 pass percentage).

Minister for Special Education Asif Saeed Manais was the chief guest at the ceremony where the results were announced. He congratulated the position holders, their parents and teachers. “We in the government try to facilitate students to the best of our ability.”

He said the Multan BISE was one of the better education boards in the country. “You should feel privileged to appear in exams from this board,” said the minister.

Bahawalpur

Girl students shone in the matriculation exams this year. Bisma Qureshi clinched the top position with 1085 marks, Afifa Latif stood second with 1077 marks and Muhammad Awais bin Abdul Malik, Soha Tariq and Irza Ali shared the third place with 1075 marks each.

The total number of candidates who had applied for admission was 73,344 of which 73,154 candidates had appeared in the examination. A total of 55,375 candidates passed the examination so that the pass percentage was 75.70.

Sargodha

Quratulain Fatima and Aiman Fatima shared the first position with 1080 marks each. Habiba Shahid stood second and the third position went to Habib-ur-Rehman.
