DI KHAN:
Tank tehsil council held a meeting on Wednesday and urged provincial and federal governments to intervene for safe recovery of Tank tehsil naib nazim Haibat Khan. They said if the government did not take notice of the issue, they will first protest at district level and then at provincial level.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Tank nazim Mullah Abdur Rehman where participants condemned the missing of naib nazim and four of his colleagues. Tank tehsil acting naib nazim Ghulam Raza Baloch also presented a resolution in favour of their release.

“Many days have passed, but there is no clue of Haibat Khan’s recovery,” Rehman said, adding, the naib nazim was very important and everyone was deeply grieved by his disappearance. “We will demand government officials to take steps for his recovery,” he added.

The meeting also led to the formation of a five-member committee which will work for the release of Tank naib nazim. It comprises Mullah Abdur Rehman, Nasrullah, Mamriz Khan, Azmat and Ghulam Raza Baloch. The committee will also bring the issue to the notice of the government and find a solution within eight days. If it fails to find a solution, protests will take place.

Since JUI-F has formed the Tank tehsil council government, while PTI has formed district nazim council govt, the issue was also conveyed to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but so far no headway

is made.

Emerging theories

Haibat Khan, along with four of his colleagues, went to Ziarat in Balochistan to escape the heat of Tank two days before Eidul Fitr and have been missing since then.

Tank tehsil council said, “Haibat Khan mistakenly crossed the border into Afghanistan with his friends and was arrested by the Afghan security forces and shifted to Qandahar Jail.”

Tank-based Journalist, Syed Kundi, told The Express Tribune, “The vehicle in which all five of them were travelling is still standing at Spin Boldak check post and it is most likely they have been kidnapped.” Haibat belongs to Bittani tribe and was elected as naib nazim from Ama Khel union council.
