No proceedings: Lawyers’ strike enters third day

Almost no cases could be taken up for arguments at the appellate and trial courts in the city

KARACHI: Judicial proceedings at the Sindh High Court (SHC) and other subordinate courts remained halted for the third consecutive day as lawyers continued to boycott on Wednesday.

The legal fraternity had announced a three-day strike on July 16 against the abduction of the SHC Chief Justice's son, Barrister Ovais Shah, (who has now been recovered in an intelligence-based operation) and implication of a lawyer, Advocate Ibrahim Abro, in a robbery case. Almost no cases could be taken up for arguments at the appellate and trial courts in the city. Though one of the demands, Barrister Shah's recovery has now been met, Advocate Abro's predicament is still ongoing.
