Mark your calendars: Lux Style Awards to be held on July 29
Organisers set to roll out red carpet for show
KARACHI:
The most anticipated night in the Pakistani world of showbiz, fashion and music has been announced. This year’s Lux Style Awards will be held on July 29, stated a press release.
Nominations for the upcoming award show were revealed in May at a star-studded event hosted by actor Mahira Khan, Yasir Hussain and Adnan Malik, and attended by some of the most prominent names in the industry.
While some may have been predictable, other nominations made by the jury were rather controversial – almost comical. Ahmed Ali Butt’s nomination in the Best Film Actor category, and Ali Safina’s nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category gave rise to quite an uproar. Butt won praises for his work in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, while Safina essayed the lead role in Jalaibee. The former’s nomination however, was soon replaced by that of Danish Taimoor as per the singer-turned-actor’s request.
Even with its somewhat haphazard categorisation, the event will still attract the brightest of stars towards the end of this month, as it always has previously. This is will be the 15th time the show rolls out the red carpet in honour of talented individuals for their contributions to their respective fields.
