Panamagate scandal: Opposition parties to set their course today

ISLAMABAD:
A decisive meeting of the opposition over the future course of action on the Panama leaks controversy is scheduled today (Tuesday) amid the absence of two top leaders of the PPP and the PTI.

Three options will be discussed in today’s meeting including deliberations on whether to move the court, approach parliament or take to the streets over the issue.

The plan of action will be finalised by 11-party opposition bloc – nine of which have parliamentary representation, while two politico-religious parties PAT and MWM lack any parliamentary strength.

PTI chairman Imran Khan and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will not attend the meeting. “Imran is busy in the AJK election campaign while Bilawal has mandated two senior party leaders Khursheed Shah and Aitzaz Ahsan to attend the meeting,” said a senior PTI leader.

The PAT and the MWM have shown their willingness to attend today’s meeting.
