Law And Order: Plea seeking security disposed off
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah disposed of on Monday a petition seeking direction for the provincial government to provide foolproof security to serving and former judges and their family members. The chief justice remarked that he was personally overseeing the matter and that foolproof security arrangements would be made. Abdullah Malik, a lawyer and a rights activist, had filed the petition. His counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique submitted that it was high time to introduce a system that ensured a environment free of fear for judges and their families. He said the recent kidnapping of the son of the Sindh High Court chief justice exposed a flaw in the security plan for high court judges. He said provision of security to them was a fundamental right… the state was bound to provide them security under Articles 9, 14 and 25 of the Constitution.
