MULTAN: A 12-year-old boy died on Monday from a bullet injury received at a wedding in Hawaili Lakha, Okara district, where one of the guests was firing celebratory shots in the air. Police said the culprit had fled.

They said landlord Mian Naimat Ali Sukhaira’s son was getting married in the 3-SP area of Hawaili Lakha. Ayub, the son of a farmer who worked on Sukhaira’s fields, was washing dishes to be used at the mehndi ceremony of the landlord’s son when he was hit by a stray bullet shot apparently by a guest who was standing next to him. The boy’s father said that his son was standing next to Ali Hassan who had fired the shot.

He said that Hassan had fled as soon as he saw that Ayub had been hit. Police said the boy had died before he could be treated.
