SHABQADAR/PESHAWAR:
A pro-government tribal leader was killed, and three others critically injured in the Michni area of lower Mohamand Agency on Sunday.

Malik Syal Khan along with three others was traveling in a car in the Banglo area when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen, an official of political administration confirmed.

Following the attack, officials cordoned the area and started a search operation to apprehend the culprits. The deceased and injured were shifted to a hospital.

Two suspected militants killed in IED explosion in Bajaur

Lower Mohmand's Michni area has remained a militants’ hideout in the past years and was cleared after the military operation. However, attacks on pro-government tribal leaders and officials remain frequent.

Two military officials and a Khasadar official were killed in the said area last month.


Policeman killed in Peshawar

Separately, a police head constable was killed near Peshawar's Jamil Chowk.

Qasim Khan, deployed at the Supreme Court Peshawar registry, was on his way to work when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at him, leaving him seriously injured.

He was rushed to the Lady Reading Hosptial (LRH) but passed away before reaching the facility.

An official of Yakatot police station said the incident was an act of target killing.

At least 20 policemen have been targeted in Peshawar in 2016 so far.
