Sunday Bazaars: Prices of 22 vegetables go up

The vegetable sold for Rs74 to Rs80 a kilogramme

LAHORE: Prices of 22 vegetables at Sunday Bazaars were higher this week than last week.

According to the price list issued by the Market Committee, the highest raise of 95 per cent was recorded in the price of okra. The vegetable sold for Rs74 to Rs80 a kilogramme.

The price of bottle gourds was higher by 86 per cent increase; these sold for Rs36 to Rs39 a kilogramme. The price of spinach was higher by 43 per cent. It sold for Rs26 to Rs30 a kilogramme. Garlic (native) witnessed a rise of 42 per cent in its price. The vegetable sold for Rs160 to Rs170 a kilogramme.

The price of cauliflower was higher by 31 per cent and it sold for Rs56 to Rs60 a kilogramme. The price of brinjals went up by 29 per cent; these sold for Rs37 to Rs40 a kilogramme.

Green chilies’ (native) prices were up by 25 per cent as they sold for Rs46 to Rs50 a kilogramme. The prices of garlic (Chinese) were up by 23 per cent. It sold for Rs188 to Rs200 a kilogramme. The prices of tomatoes were higher by 16 per cent; these sold for Rs61 to Rs65 a kilogramme.

The prices of bitter gourd, round gourd (native) and Chinese carrots were higher by 13 per cent. Bitter gourd sold for Rs31 to Rs35 a kilogramme, round gourd for Rs65 to Rs70 a kilogramme and Chinese carrot for Rs31 to Rs35 a kilogramme. The prices of cucumbers (native) and cabbages witnessed a 10 per cent rise. These sold for Rs42 to Rs45 a kilogramme.

The prices of radishes were up by seven per cent and it sold for Rs13 to Rs15 a kilogramme. The prices of turnips and capsicums were higher by five per cent. Turnips sold for Rs40 and capsicums for Rs60 to Rs65 a kilogramme. Ginger (Chinese) witnessed a three per cent raise in its price and sold for Rs65 to Rs70 a kilogramme.

The prices of lemons were lower by 11 to 19 per cent. Native lemons (lower grade) sold for Rs46 to Rs50 a kilogramme and those of good quality for Rs65 to Rs70 a kilogramme. The price of pumpkins was lower by 18 per cent; these sold for Rs9 a kilogramme. The price of taro roots (arvi) dropped by 11 per cent and these were available for Rs51 to Rs55 a kilogramme.
