Busted: Two dacoits arrested in Swabi
SWABI:
At least two dacoits were jointly arrested by the police and counter-terrorism department in Swabi on Sunday. While speaking to journalists, Swabi DPO Javed Iqbal said a raid was conducted on the basis of an intelligence tip-off. “A search operation was carried out in Yar Hussain under the supervision of the DSP to arrest the wanted dacoits,” he said. The DPO added when a police team reached their hideout, the dacoits opened fire on them and tried to escape. “After a brief encounter, the police and CTD personnel managed to arrest them,” the DPO said. “They have been identified as Munir Saeed and Yasir Muhammad.” According to Iqbal, four of their accomplices managed to flee the site. The DPO said the accused were part of a gang of dacoits and were involved in several cases of robbery. He said two hand grenades, a Kalashnikov, two pistols and rounds were also seized from their possession. Iqbal also announced cash rewards and certificates for the police officials who participated in the operation.
