Utility Stores cuts sugar price by Rs5 per kg
USC plans to open 200 new outlets in both rural and urban areas.

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has reduced the price of sugar by Rs5 per kilogramme at all its outlets across the country with immediate effect. The new price will be Rs55 per kg at all USC stores.
The decision was taken during a visit by the Minister of State for Industries and Production Dr Ayatullah Durrani to the USC head office on Friday. He was briefed about the corporation’s performance in the last six months and was informed that its sales had increased from Rs26 billion to Rs35 billion during this period.
Durrani expressed satisfaction over the performance of the corporation and directed the authorities to take steps to further improve the performance of the organisation for relief of the people, especially the common man.
Talking to the media, USC Officers Association President Wajid Khan Swati said that USC would open 200 new stores within the next six months enhancing the network to 6,200 outlets. “Maximum number of people will be able to get subsidised and quality items with the opening of new stores. The new stores will also help increase sales of the corporation,” he said.
He added that the new stores would be opened in both rural and urban areas to facilitate customers at their doorsteps.
