‘Death in custody’: Rangers contradict MQM allegations
Such allegation is an attempt to give negative perception of the Karachi operation
KARACHI:
Pakistan Rangers contradicted on Friday the allegations levelled against them by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) over the killing of its party worker in Rangers custody. One of the missing MQM workers, Riazul Haq, was found dead on June 30 from Surjani Town after missing for over 14 months. Following the recovery of his brutally tortured body, MQM raised concerns over the alleged extrajudicial killing of another party worker stating that Haq, 41, was a worker of Landhi Town, Unit 81, and had been picked up by the Rangers from his residence in Landhi No 3, on May 19 last year. “The allegations against the force over the killing of Haq are baseless,” said the statement issued on Friday. “Such allegation is an attempt to give negative perception of the Karachi operation.”
