Pakistan sent packing out of Fed Cup

Pakistan suffer 3-0 defeat against Philippines in third round.

KARACHI:
Pakistan crashed out of the Fed Cup after facing a second successive defeat in the event to Philippines 3-0 in their third and last Asia/Oceania Group A match in Bangkok.

Pakistan started off well when Ushna Suhail claimed the first set win against Nguyen Tamitha in the individual round. Suhail reduced the unforced errors which paid off well with a 7-5 win. The 17-year old, however, lost her rhythm in the following sets losing with similar scores of 3-6, 3-6 to hand Philippines a 1-0 lead.


Sara Mehboob was the second to go down losing to Patrimonio Anna. The former national champion lost the match 6-4, 6-0 in quick time. Pakistan failed to impress in the doubles round as well with Saba Aziz and Sara Mansoor failing to make a comeback for their team. The Filipino pair of Anna and Rudas Marinel secured the match with 6-0, 6-1 score-line to ensure a 3-0 victory resulting in Pakistan’s elimination from the tournament.
