Smart schools: Make programme a flagship, says minister

ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday directed the Capital Administration and Development Authority (CADD) to make the “smart schools project” a flagship to develop education system in Islamabad.

“Smart schools for tomorrow” is the vision of the government and for this we need to make use of blended learning methods to instill creativity in the students,” he said while chairing a meeting to review the progress on the project.

The meeting was attended by CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and other officials. Under the project, 32 schools will be transformed into “smart schools” by employing blended learning methods.

Of the 32 schools, 24 will be selected from the federal capital and eight from provinces.

Although education was a devolved subject the federal government was playing a supportive role to bring innovation in the education, sector, Iqbal said.
