Delays: Notices issued in salary payments case
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued on Wednesday notices to the provincial finance secretary and administrators of six district municipal corporations for failing to implement the court's directives regarding payment of salaries to nearly 700 teachers at schools run by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
Headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, the division bench directed them to file their comments by July 21.
During the hearing, the judges were told that the court had previously directed the finance secretary and the DMCs administrators to release the teachers' salaries but they had failed to comply. The employees alleged that the finance secretary, KMC's senior director of the human resource department and the DMC administrators had failed to implement the court's order, which amounts to committing contempt of court orders.
