Lights out: Load-shedding brings people to streets

Residents of Qaimkhani Colony, Baldia Town, and adjoining areas staged a protest against load-shedding in their respective areas on Thursday. According to a Saeedabad police station officer, the protesters reached outside the K-Electric grid station where they blocked the main roads and some even threw stones at the grid station. The protest caused a severe traffic jam in which commuters were stuck for several hours. The protesters, included women and children as well, claimed that their area experiences load-shedding of more than 12 hours per day. The protesters were dispersed by the local police after successful negotiations.
