Applaud: LCCI lauds WAPDA chairman’s stance on Kalabagh dam
Kalabagh Dam is the most viable solution for the country’s power shortage
LAHORE:
In a bid to show support to Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Zafar Mahmood’s stance on Kalabagh dam, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said that this project should be completed with determination to avoid famine, control floods and generate cheap electricity.
LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and Senior Vice President Almas Hyder said that it is a good omen that the head of one of the most important departments is advocating Kalabagh dam at all forums.
Speaking out: ‘Expedite construction of Bhasha Dam instead of Kalabagh’
The LCCI office-bearers said that the government should not listen to those elements that protest against projects beneficial for the country. “Kalabagh Dam is the most viable solution for the country’s power shortage, but a particular lobby is opposing this mega project under a well-planned conspiracy,” said the LCCI leaders. “These elements have not said anything about Bhasha dam as they know construction of Bhasha dam is a very hard task.
