LAHORE:
No patients with symptoms of dengue fever have been brought to any public hospital in the province, a spokesperson of the Health Department said on Wednesday. “All public hospitals have satisfactory arrangements to treat dengue fever patients.”

He said there had been reports in the media about unsatisfactory treatment facilities for dengue fever patients.

“Those reports are untrue. The Cabinet Committee on Dengue meets after every 10 days and Adviser to CM on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique chairs the meetings.”

The cabinet committee reviews measures regarding dengue mosquito control and arrangements for the treatment of dengue fever patients in public hospitals in detail, he said.

“There is always a special focus on ensuring treatment facilities for the patients.”

Town Response Committees also meet regularly to review arrangements in this regard, he said.

The spokesperson said the Dengue Experts Advisory Group (DEAG), headed by King Edward Medical University Vice Chancellor Faisal Masood, had trained doctors and nurses regarding case management of dengue fever patients. He said the DEAG had arranged trainings at the divisional and district level for doctors posted at public sector hospitals in dengue fever wards. He said that dengue fever wards and High Dependency Units (HDUs) were available at all hospitals. “If, in case, patients suffering from dengue fever are brought to public hospitals, they will be given the best treatment facilities.”
