Detained? Izhar Khan picked up by Rangers, claims MQM
"No reason for arrest was provided when asked,” says Rabita Committee Deputy Convener
KARACHI:
The MQM on Tuesday claimed that its senior leader and Rabita Comittee member Izhar Ahmed Khan has been picked up by the Sindh Rangers.
They were also accompanied by those in uniform. However, at that time no reason for arrest was provided when asked,” said Rabita Committee Deputy Convener Syed Shahid Pasha in a hurriedly called press conference at the party secretariat.
Pasha said Izhar Khan was arrested by the Rangers from Karachi’s Federal B area Block 6 outside the house of MQM lawmaker Abdul Haseeb. He claimed that the arrest of Izhar Khan was a clear evidence that the Karachi operation was being conducted to solely target the MQM.
“Izhar Khan, who was formerly working at the London Secretariat, is also a British citizen and his family which resides in London has appealed to the British High Commission to help in securing his early and safe release,” he added. The Rangers has not officially commented on the arrest as yet.
