Humanitarian icon: Ceremonies held to pay tribute to Edhi

LAHORE:
Special ceremonies were held in several universities on Tuesday to pay tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Punjab University Law College administration announced to name the recently-restored old College Auditorium after Edhi. In this regard, a ceremony will be held soon.

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore also announced on Tuesday to name the newly-built boys’ hostel as Abdul Sattar Edhi Hall. The decision was announced after a unanimous resolution was passed at the meeting of all deans and heads of departments.


The UET vice chancellor said in a statement that Edhi was a social icon of the era. “He was determined to serve humanity. His services will be remembered forever at national and international level,” he said. The meeting also prayed for the soul of Edhi. The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore also arranged a condolence reference.
