Targeted murder: PPP Kurram Agency president shot dead
Witnesses says the deceased was tortured before he was shot dead with a .30 pistol
PARACHINAR:
Unidentified attackers gunned down Pakistan Peoples Party Kurram Agency President Hamid Hussain Turi inside his apartment-cum-office in Parachinar on Tuesday.
Police and relatives said Turi was at his home in Shablan village on the outskirts of Parachinar late Monday night when he received a telephone call. He then left for his single-room apartment in Parachinar city which also served as the PPP leader’s office.
When party workers arrived at the office Tuesday morning, they found Turi dead. Witnesses said the deceased was tortured before he was shot dead with a .30 pistol.
Turi was counted among the most vocal and politically aware tribal elders, and had been associated with the PPP for long. Last year, Turi and his family survived a rocket attack on his home in Shablan.
Turi was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Shablan village.
PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari condemned the murder of Turi and called upon the authorities to ensure immediate arrest of his killers.
