Dangerous waters: Three drown in Swat River 

SHABQADAR:
At least three people, including a child, drowned in Swat River, Charsadda on Tuesday.

A police official told The Express Tribune Zahidullah and Zahoor Ahmad, who belonged to Peshawar, were swimming in Swat River at Munda Head when they drowned. He added the bodies were subsequently found from a river and shifted to Peshawar for legal formalities.

Separately, a child identified as Obaidullah also drowned in Swat River. His body was not found till this report was filed.


Meanwhile, the district administration imposed Section 144 on swimming in rivers in Charsadda.

Additional AC Noor Wali Khan told journalists recent cases of drowning have compelled the district administration to impose a ban on swimming. He added those found violating the rule will be tried under Section 188 and legal action will be taken against them.
