Memorial reference: Edhi remembered at KU event

Glowing tributes were paid to eminent social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi at a condolence meeting held at University of Karachi (KU) on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, acting KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Khalid Iraqi said Edhi was a ray of hope for humanity as the legendary social worker devoted his entire life to serve the cause of humanity. “Edhi was not only recognised in Pakistan for his services but also the world over,” he said further. Speaking at the event, Ziauddin University Vice-Chancellor Dr Peerzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui said Edhi was one of the most prominent and distinguished social figures of the country. He said health services are a major need of society and there is a dire need to enhance spending in this sector. Siddiqui pointed out that Edhi started his welfare services in a very difficult time and we all need to carry forward his mission in order to eradicate all social ills. Several other noted intellectuals and academics spoke on the occasion.
