Baby dolphin rescued
The dolphin was spotted in Salar Wah on Monday morning
A blind baby Indus dolphin, which was stranded in Salar Wah near Garhi Khairo, Jacobabad district, was rescued and released in Indus River in Sukkur on Monday night.
The dolphin was spotted in Salar Wah on Monday morning. When informed, a team of Sindh wildlife department and World Wide Fund for Nature - Pakistan (WWF-P) rushed to the scene and rescued the mammal, which was later released near the Dolphin Conservation Centre.

Talking to The Express Tribune, WWF-P, Sukkur senior project manager Malik Imran said that the dolphin was female, aged two years, three-and-a-half-foot-long and weighed around 18 kilogrammes. According to him, the baby dolphin had slipped into the Kirthar canal and then went into one of its distributaries, Salar Wah.
Imran said juvenile dolphins are either slipped into the canals due to the strong currents in the river or in search of food.
