ISLAMABAD:
At least two people were murdered, two others killed in traffic accidents, while four houses were burgled in Islamabad during the three days of Eid.
Two purse-snatching and pick-pocketing cases were also reported to the local police.
In both the cases, the men were overpowered by the locals and handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the two murder incidents took place within the Tarnol police jurisdiction.
A woman, identified as Shabnam Bibi, was allegedly shot dead by her husband in the Pind Parian area on the Eid day. Tarnol Police Station Inspector Jamshed Khan told The Express Tribune that Adil Khan, the suspect, had been arrested.
“The suspect claims that the woman committed suicide but the police believe that the woman was murdered,” said the SHO.
He said the couple also had a one-year-old daughter.
In the other murder incident, a 21-year-old man was gunned down by unidentified persons on Fateh Jang Road on July 7.
The inspector said that the police were yet to arrest the suspects.
The city also witnessed a surge in traffic mishaps as a large number of people thronged tourist spots during the Eid holidays.
At least two people were killed in two separate traffic incidents, one in E-11, while another in Iqbal Town on Expressway, on the first day of Eid. An official of the Polyclinic Hospital said that a total of 182 injured people were brought to the hospital during the three days of Eid.
Meanwhile, four house robberies — one each in Margalla, Industrial Area, Golra, and Sihala police limits — were reported to the police on Eid.
A van was also stolen from a parking lot in G-9 Markaz on the Eid day.
Another car and a motorcycle were stolen on July 9th.
The police recovered the stolen car after they intercepted it near Tarnol.
The suspected car-snatcher was killed in the encounter.
