No FIR yet: Woman smothered to death by in-laws

A woman has been smothered to death allegedly by her in-laws in Bikhari Kalan in Chakwal.

Amir Khan, a resident of Kotehra Dakhili, has lodged a complaint with the local police that his daughter, Salma Bibi, 23, who was married to Nasir Hussain was killed by her husband with the alleged connivance of his father, Baz Khan, brother Qaiser Hussain, his sister Robina Begum, and their servant Mazhar Hussain on June 6th over a domestic issue.

According to the complainant, his daughter would be subjected to torture by her husband and her in-laws for the last two years.

The family after killing her claimed that Salma died of cardiac arrest, but, according to him, she was smothered to death by the family members with a pillow.


According to the complainant, the family also did not allow postmortem of the victim, the mother of a one-and-a-half year old girl.

The complainant also said that Nasir Hussain had already divorced two wives and he was always at odds with his wives.

The complainant has also appealed to the Punjab chief minister, the Inspector General of Police and Chakwal DPO Munir Ahmed Marth to order an impartial inquiry into the incident, as he claims, the local police have been reluctant to register an FIR against the nominated suspects.
