Devolution: Govt to approach SC against SHC order
KARACHI:
The Sindh government will file a petition against the decision of the Sindh High Court regarding the reversal of the devolution of JPMC, NICVD and NICH before the Supreme Court, according to provincial health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar.
Under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, it is the provincial government’s domain to run public health institutions, Dahar said, presiding over a meeting held at his office on Monday. The meeting was attended by the health secretary and senior health officials.
If the federal government had any objection, it should have taken the matter to court and not the employees of JPMC, NICVD and NICH, said Dahar.
He assured the employees that their rights, perks and privileges will be protected at all costs and that they will have rights equal to other employees of the health department.
“The Sindh government is committed to providing better health facilities to the people of the province and it has been working seriously to achieve this goal,” Dahar said.
